A Very Special Thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Today, I am very grateful for the heroes at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers who risked their lives repairing breaches in the levees in my hometown of Forty Fort, Pennsylvania.  Using truckloads of rock, dirt and human labor, they stopped billions of gallons of flood water from inundating Forty Fort and saved so many people that I love (23 people from just my family, plus many friends and businesses) from living/reliving the nightmare of Agnes.

Taken a few summers ago, here are a few of my nieces and nephews playing on one of the very spots that was in danger on Friday.  The water was up to the top of the hill but pouring from underneath on the other side.  Thanks to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, they all still have homes to go home to.

Luckily, my dear friend Molly was still able to get married yesterday - 9-10-11.  You can see how swollen the creeks are from the week's rain.

Sadly, there are several areas near Forty Fort and throughout Pennsylvania and New York that were devasted from flood waters.  Keep them in your prayers.
