This post was inspired by Amy Hahn's post from earlier today, Laughter leads to more laughter... Life Lessons from my Six Year Old!
There are lots of things to be worried about these days and stress levels can run pretty high. Everyone is overbooked and let's face it, there simply are not enough hours in a day. And I don't think that is going to change anytime soon.
To keep it all in check, todo lists are great. Even is something doesn't get done today, as long as it is on the list, it won't fall through the cracks. But make another list as well...
Do a brain dump of anything and everything that has you worried.
And make sure you get everything, sometimes our guts nag us and we aren't sure why, dig deep and write it all down.
Worrying can waste a lot of energy and the saying goes that half the things people worry about never end up happening anyway. If you write down absolutely everything that is bothering you, you may realize that things aren't so bad. It will help to put your worries into perspective and help to formulate what you need to do to create change for the better, change that will alleviate some of your most important worries.
For example, you may be worried about a pending sale that is on life support or maybe because you haven't sold a house this month (or last month for that matter). But you may be also be worried because you know you are going to have to pay for braces or college or a new refrigerator soon. But in looking at the list, you realize that selling more houses will help alleviate the pressure of paying for braces or college or new appliances. Lots of worries revolve around money. So you have to focus on your business and find ways to trim expenses. Don't think about the braces; think about your business.
Some worries may not be related. You may worry about your health, your kids, and the economy. Maybe you worry that you haven't been a good enough friend or daughter/son or husband/wife. Maybe exercise is the answer; maybe marriage counseling is needed. Maybe a simple phone call to say hello to someone you have been neglecting is all that is needed.
Either way, write it down, evaluate it, prioritize it and make a plan of action to eliminate what is bothering you the most. Know that everyone has their struggles and time has a way of wiping worries away (and then bringing on new ones).
Then take a break and sit back and laugh! Thanks Amy!
