Love and Real Estate - Top 10 Passion Killers

Warner Brothers commissioned a survey in Britain in anticipation of the release of a new movie called, “Hall Pass” a comedy about modern day relationships.

The survey found that the 7-year itch has been replaced with the “3-year glitch”—the time at which couples start to take each other for granted and lose passion in the relationship. The 36 month mark also seems to be the point where daily habits become major irritations between couples.

Weight gain & lack of exercise (13%)

Money worries & differing opinions on thriftiness (11%)

Long working hours with no personal time (10%)

Personal hygiene issues (9%)

Too much time with the in-laws (9%)

Lack of romance & relations (8%)

Drinking too much alcohol (7%)

Snoring & other anti-social bedtime habits (6%)

Lapsed fashion & wearing the same old clothes (4%)

Bathroom habits (4%)

The indications of troubled passion within a relationship include:

The partners cease complimenting each other.

A lack of romantic activity.

A desire to vacation separately or spend personal time apart.

Now in real estate, these are among the TOP 10 PASSION KILLERS (in our humble non-scientific opinion - feel free to add your own in the comments):

After showing homes to a buyer for 3 months, they decide they want to rent.

Your buyer indicates that maybe they will look in the neighboring state in which you are not licensed.

Your buyer wanders into new construction without you (because they didn't want to bother you).

Even though you told your seller to expect to sell in the range of $350K to $370K, they won't accept an offer for $355K.

Your seller asks you to do open houses every Sunday until the house is sold.

Your seller wants to know "what else" you are doing to market the home.

You give your seller a checklist of things to do to prepare the house for sale and when you show up to take the listing and the photos, you see the seller hasn't done anything that you requested.

There is a listing you are about to take when the seller calls and says he found a buyer on his own.  Then when you later find out the selling price, you know you would have netted the seller more money even after the real estate commission.

An "A" member of your center of influence informs you that their fiance's sister is getting her real estate license.

Your seller denies 8 out of 10 showing requests and the house languishes on the market.

Indications of troubled passion with your clients include;

You send your buyers the exact house they have been waiting for and they don't respond in any fashion for a week.

You begin to dread answering the phone when a certain client calls, and you let it go to voicemail.

You daydream about "firing" your client.
