Last year, I attended my first Susan B Komen Race for the Cure event. I wrote a blog about my experience, Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, Philadelphia PA, May 9, 2010. A year later, I still think it sums up the day pretty nicely. So please read it.
While I am not looking forward to getting up at 4:30am again, I feel drawn to the event and am hoping to repeat my experience/emotions from last year right up to the end of the day where Scott made a fabulous Mother's Day dinner - feeling overwhlemingly grateful for my health, my family and friends, and the kind, generous, hopeful spirit that resonates throughout not only Philadelphia but our entire country.
If you have the chance, come to the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure this coming Sunday, May 8, 2011 in Philadelphia. The 5K race/walk starts at 7am at the Philadelphia Art Museum. If you are interested in walking or making a donation, go to the website Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure 2011.
This year, the event will take on a new meaning for me, I'll be there volunteering for my sister Rose, a three month and counting breast cancer survivor.
